Yesterday while in a class my yoga instructor said “consider sending your hip away from you”. I found my mind rolling this word around.
Hmmmm….CONSIDER?
We are raised (hopefully) to be considerate, to consider others when we make choices or say things. But when are we taught to consider ourselves?
It’s so easy to get into the go go go mentality. To put others needs and wants before our own. Sometimes when we put ourselves first we may even feel guilty. But while we don’t want to be all about ourselves all the time we cannot be all about everyone else either. There is a happy medium.
Yes, a happy medium. A place where you consider others and also consider yourself!
Where? Well, for me that medium is when I’m doing Pilates. Pilates (Contrology) when done correctly is a full body workout all about you focusing on what you’re doing right then!
I’ve used this picture of Joe before. But, I feel that being reminded of the 6 principles of Pilates explains how your Pilates session is all about you Considering yourself. While in your session you must Concentrate on the movement. Breathe. Yes, focus on your breath. Be Precise, be in Control, be Fluid and move from your Center.
Consider taking an hour for yourself. Concentrate. Breath. Control. Fluid. Precision. Center. See how taking that time out of your day for you allows you to consider others MORE.
When is your next session?

a good one
Thank you Mary!
